Spanish industrial firm Applus+Idiada presented their eletric supercar – the Volar-E. Amazing look and output of 1,000 horsepower plus 737 pound-feet of torque remind us only on one car – Rimac Concept One.

Not surprise as Volar-E is built on base of Rimac supercar. Actually car is almost identical, except changes to bodywork and powertrain. Still Volar-E have impressive and exciting numbers 0 to 62 mph in 3.4 seconds with top speed of 186 mph. Body is carbon fiber with tubular chromium-molybdenum chassis and carbon ceramic brakes. Fast charging 35-kWh lithium-ion is good for some showoff and track time. And that is the perfect time to enjoy Volar-E eletric supercar. Just check video below:

Spanish Applus+Idiada is supported by European Commission with goal to build electric powered cars. Connection to Rimac Automobili is not mentioned, but build time of only 4 months is another reason why it’s clear that Volar-E is based on Croatian supercar. Looks like Applus+Idiada will try to bring this concept to market faster than Rimac? Or maybe it was just another way for Rimac to share innovative technology and boost revenue by helping Spaniards. Either way we are glad to see another electric supercar burning tires. By the way – when we’ll someone come up with more environmental friendly tire compound and design?

Here comes the boom! Audi coming up with R10 diesel-electric supercar with 600 hp and 737 lb-ft of torque. In the recent times we heard rumors about Audi R20 – diesel-electric hybrid that will rock a roads with amazing power. Well we just heard that car will be called R10 and with new dual clutch automatic transmission, plus updated torque-vectoring-assisted quattro AWD system it will be a strong road-holder. You’ll need it, as V6 3.0-liter diesel engine and 2 front-mounted electric motors will be good for 600 hp and 737 lb-ft of torque.

Audi’s supercar diesel engine will see upgrade from 309 hp (230 kW) and 479 lb-ft (649 Nm) to 420 hp (313 kW) and 515 lb-ft (697 Nm). Combine that power with two electric motors and you get Audi R10 supercar with 600 hp (447 kW) and 737 lb-ft (998 Nm).

Will this beauty see the light of the day? Well we already have fully electric beauties such as Rimac Concept One, so we can expect that Audi want to stay leader in supercar field. We’ll see soon, probably at September at the Frankfurt Motor Show. For now we can enjoy these computer simulated look of R10. Enjoy.

Le Mans was always a place to showoff the latest technology and reliability of real beauties by top car manufacturers in the world. In 2010. Audi famously showed their monster Audi R8 E-tron in action. But looks like this year, we’ll skip E-tron and rather enjoy in performance of diesel hybrid Audio R20.

Audi R&D chief Wolfgang Dürheimer was telling Auto Express that diesel hybrid car is amazing presentation of power and it will be popular choice for buyers. Car will have ot be good match for Porsche 918 Spyder (that we just hear heading for China). Claim was that this supercar will feature carbon fiber construction and 700 horsepower, 737 pound-feet of torque reaching 200 miles per hour without too much sweat.

Automobile brought the name R20 to daylight. We’ll see R20 performing at it’s best – on Le Mans track. Audi R20 will be “a street-legal LeMans racer,” with vertical LED headlights, “ventilated front and rear wings,” and other styling details such as tailfin running from the cockpit to the rear end. Design moving R20 closer to rich heritage of Audi Le Mands racers. At the same time it makes perfect sense for street legal supercar. Beautiful design and very popular combination of hybrid diesel engine setup, may just prove to be a real hit for Audi.

By reports car will be powered by diesel-hybrid combination, so twin-turbo V6, with 550 hp from the engine and two 75-hp electric motors turning the front wheels. Same electric setup like E-tron, but will less electric power, that’s where diesel kicks in. Inside, buyers will be impressed by mix of old-school race heritage and new cyber technology, such as rear view cameras, contour sport seats and race inspired black cockpit. In the same report, Automobile claim that we can expect R20 at Pebble Beach in 2015 with sale dates closer to 2016, with no more than 200 cars sold.

Will this hold us while we wait for fully electric Audi E-tron to appear in showrooms? It will do for me…

In the last few months there was a lot of talk about slowing of some electric supercars concepts. Audi’s R8 E-tron was one of the victims. But some people say hope still exist.

Audi R8 E-tron is monster that rocked our world in the last few years. First car appeared on the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show and took the show with mastered design and amazing power under the hood, read more about E-tron showoff and track testing in our archives. Next year, car appeared at the 24 Hours of Le Mans race, place where Audi usually perform at it’s best. We were jumping from our sofa and yelling in support of electric supercars monster that was eating everything on it’s way. It was exciting just to see environment friendly car performing where many skeptics would say electric cars will never be match to petrol powered beauties. We want Audi R8 E-tron and we want it bad.

As per current news, Audi will not stop production plans for E-tron, but it may slow down to catch up with battery technology that will allow car to perform at it’s best in “normal” conditions. I may ask, who will drive this car in “normal” conditions? I was overtaken by R8 on Autobahn, while driving around 180. Yes, that is the environmental for Audi R8 E-tron. Twisty roads on the way from Monaco to Switzerland. Transfargarasan road in Romania. German autobahn on Sunday morning. This are the places where we’ll take Audi R8 E-tron for a ride. And believe me – it will perform.

So Audi bosses – don’t give up. We need a new ride. And we are hungry for electric supercar.

Amazing Porsche 918 Spyder hybrid will be sold in China! As we found from reliable sources in China, Porsche has applied for patent in Chinese market. Considering that this is the biggest car market in the world with some amazing rides you can see in the streets – this is no surprise. Can we guess that 88 units will be delivered to Chinese market in the first year.

Some new details can be seen, such as door handles, wing mirrors, turn indicator and seat belts. Also tweaked front bumper and redesigned air intakes. New kid from Indonesia. The Signal Kustom Built Bandung and Indonesian Institute of Sciences (Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia/LIPI) built the first supercar in Indonesian market. Car is still in concept phase, so it wasn’t tested or optimized for road handling. For now it’s concept that showing possibility of electric sport cars and great audio setup by Auto Vision, AudioPro and Alpine.

SKEV-1 is inspired by Formula-1 car and LeMans 24 hours endurance racing cars, but it’s base is actually 1993 Honda Genio with good eletrci setup. The latest generation of lithium-ion battery with high energy density will allow car to be recharged in only 4 hours. With this charge can should be able to have autonomy of 160 – 200 kilometers. As said this is theory that is not yet tested, but we have lot of expectations and only the best words for SKEV-1 and this brave move to bring electric sport car to Indonesian market.

Outside car is real competitor to Formula 1. Specially view from the back is very Batman mobile inspired and looks great. Interior is obviously only audio-visual showoff by companies supporting the project. Improvement that we would like to see is in power department. As it stands for now, car will produce 52 hp and torque of only 156 Nm at 6,500 rpm. Now this may be enough for daily commute, it’s short for sport driving and to include it in the list of real supercars, we need something close to breathtaking performance. But SKEV-1 is just the first child, we are waiting on the next one. Sure it will be a great Indonesian electric supercar. Best wishes!

Lotus made some of the most exciting sport cars ever, so no surprise their Elise is used as a base for a few new electric car adventures. This time we present German built, PG Elektrus. Mean looking electric sport car with German engineering.

PG Elektrus is fully electric sport car that will be able to reach 0-100 kmh in under 3 seconds, will top speed of 250kmh. Battery pack is claimed to be recharged in only 20 minutes and be capable of range up to 350 km. of course depends how hard you push it.

PG Elektrus is sports car made is with simple philosophy, take proven amazingly handling shell from Lotus Elise and add electric motor and battery pack. Combination of motor and battery used is capable of producing 272 hp and 350 Nm of push. With only 900 kg weight, it’s no wonder this is amazing performing electric supercar. just what we like here at Green Supercar.

PG is German motorbike manufakturer based in Regensburg. PG Elektrus will be built in Düsseldorf factory, and 667 cars are expected to come up from the manufacturing track, costing around 280-290,000 euros. But higher than competitors such as Tesla Roadster 2.0. I guess prospective buyers will have to get a test drive. It’s not about money, it’s about a thrill.. electric thrill.

Recently we wrote about All Electric Drift Car K1 by Quimera, so let us remind you of another amazing projects by Spanish Kings of Electric Racing.

AEGT or All Electric Grand Tourer is prototype shown at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show for the first time. 3 UQM electric motors are good to produce 700 bhp rocket AEGT to 300 km/h. Of course superior design by Quimera made this performance possible, even that lightweight carbon fiber monocoque chassis had to drag 600 kg of lithium-polymer EIG batteries. So next step is reducing batteries weight and looking at dust behind this masterpiece. So we are calling all manufacturers of the lightweight car batteries to step forward…

Drifting becoming greener too. That’s not a bad news for so many supercar makers that already have cars with enough torque and agility to be drift champions. Juts search our blog for Audi E-Tron, Jaguar C-X75, AMG E-Cell or Rimac Concept One. Even our old friend Tesla Roadster is capable of making a nice drift on tarmac.

But Spanish Quimera Responsible Racing and the UK’s Alex Letteriello Evelio Electric Supercars team decided to start from the scratch and make the ultimate all-electric supercar purposely built for drifting competitions. Their AEDC or All Electric Drift Car, also known as K1 Evelio, for now is good enough to reach zero to 60 mph in just 3.2 seconds. Drifting range is 150 miles per charge and is expected to reach speeds of 170 mph. It’s noted that current 170kW electric powertrain is good for top speed of only 95 mph, but engineers are hard on work to bring new 250kW engine good for 170 mph.

Interesting is that super-charged Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries can be fully charged in just an hour – what is amazing – with 80 percent reached in only 20 minutes via a 30 amp socket. That mean while you chat with a friends, your car will be ready for another drift.

Cool idea from Quimera – they created design competition asking public to help with more challenging design of the All Electric Drift Car. We look forward to results and amazing new design – not that something is wrong with the current one. Amazing effort from Quimera and Evelio to reach drifting market with all electric supercar.
