EXCLUSIVE! Porsche 918 RSR Hybrid revealed – Super Sport Car – images and videos from the 2011 Detroit Motor Show
Porsche has revealed a race-bred version of 918 Spyder Concept at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show. Build on the same drivetrain as the 911 GT3 R Hybrid race car, Porsche 918 RSR is good enough for 767 horsepower. 563 bhp will come from 6.2-liter V8 with amazing 10,300 rpm. Two electric motors, each with 75 kilowatts, will be placed at each front wheel. This will allow perfect balance of Porsche 918 RSR, and of course, massive rapid acceleration.
Porsche 918 RSR hybrid is built out of carbon fiber reinforced plastic, same as Porsche 918 Spyder concept car. Porsche AG Design Chief, Michael Mauer, underlined Porsche intention to resemble shape of the legendary racer from 1972. Porsche 917 short-tail.
