Dream Ended Here – Audi R8 E-Tron won’t make it to production tracks
Yes, it’s looks amazing and ripping Nürburgring lap in only 8:09.099, but you won’t be able to drive 2013 Audi R8 E-Tron soon. It will be on sale, well… never.
Sad day indeed, as Audi officially announced that beautiful sport fighter called Audi R8 E-Tron will not make to production and be offered for sale to public. For now they made 10 cars, for test and show, and you can enjoy seeing them ripping through German made asphalt on video below, you’ll never sit in one. Except if you are Audi’s test or race driver. The dream that one day we’ll drive it ended. But the new electric Audi’s will come.
Audi R8 E-Tron is glorious example of electric car, with impressive numbers 0-100 in 5.9 seconds with combined output of 150 kW (204 hp) and 2,650 Nm (1954.54 lb-ft). Beautiful sculptured ASF-design aluminum body was the most beautiful Audi till now by far. Just recently Mercedes Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive took away Nürburgring lap record from E-Tron and become the fastest production EV. And now we won’t have chance to tweak our won R8 E-Tron and try to beat it.
Considering that in recent years we seen other magnificent electric cars by Audi, including Audi R20 Le Mans, it is our expectation that production replacement for E-tron will be announced in the following months. we had news about E-tron being revamped as Audi RSe. We’ll see… We are waiting for the 2014 Frankfurt Motor Show …
