Porsche 929 hybrid to debut on 2011 Detroit Auto Show – is this production ready Porsche 918 Spyder?
Porsche 929 hybrid supercar will debut on 2011 Detroit Auto Show! In just a few days we’ll see new surprise and hybrid supercar offered by the masters of excitement on the road. Porsche 929.
Rumours say 929 is actually production version of Porsche 918 Spyder, we wrote about few months ago. Or at least closer to production than previously shown Porsche 918 Spyder concept. German magazine AutoZeitung, claim the new model will be called the 929. Similar to the Porsche 918 Spyder, this sport car have a hybrid drivetrain that will combine a 4.8 liter V8 Biturbo engine with three electric motors. Power will be distributed to all four wheels and this AWD will be matched with Porsche’s 7-speed Doppelkupplungsgetriebe PDK transmission. 918 Spyder can propeller from 0-62 mph in 3.2 seconds with a top speed of 198 mph. We expect that Porsche 929 hybrid will at least match those numbers. AutoZeitung even presented artist impression of the new Porsche 929 hybrid, presented in our main images of this article.
Porsche spokesman Hans- Gerd Bode stated that the company will make a comeback with a “spectacular new concept that points towards a future road going model. We’ll have something spectacular to show there. You’ll have to wait and be surprised.” Bode added.
Few days only… Our hearts will beat faster and for sure we’ll post videos and images of the new Porsche 929 after showoff on the 2011 Detroit Auto Show. Does this body design remind you of Audi R8?
